A good spliff should contain about 50:50 gear and baccy, depending on the strength of the gear. Your throat will tell you if you've got it wrong.

(i) Gear should be finely ground using a grinder, pestle & mortar, cheese grater...

(ii) Fill the rizla with gear to about 1 cm total width at the wide end.

(iii) Leave the last (0.5 cm) bit of baccy next to the roach without gear as it will be too hot to smoke and will act as a filter.

(iv) Mix the gear evenly throughout the rest of the spliff. Uneven mixing may lead to side-burning.
